Temperature Changes Produced in Tissue During Ultrasonic Irradiation
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper is concerned with the technique of temperature measurement in living tissue during irradiation by high intensity ultrasound. The interpretation of data obtained by the use of thermocouples is presented. The specific biological object used in this study is the spinal cord of rat exposed by laminectomy. This particular preparation serves to illustrate the relative importance of the heat conduction process in contributing to the temperature change as a function of the proximity of the imbedded thermocouple to bone and the time elapsed after initiation of the exposure. The ultrasonic frequency used in these studies was 980 kc. The sound intensities incident on the cord were between 60 and 80 watts/cm 2. The experimental results presented in the paper are used to obtain values for the acoustic absorption coefficient of the tissue of the spinal cord. The range of values obtained for the intensity absorption coet•cient per centimeter from measurements made on six adult rats at various positions in the spinal cord is 0.19 to 0.23 if the heat capacity of the tissue at constant pressure is 1.00 calorie/cm a.

An Investigation of Brightness Changes in Ultrasound Images due to Temperature Variations in Liver Tissue during Radiofrequency Ablation
Introduction: one of the minimally invasive methods of treatmenting liver malignancies is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) which can be applied to primary or secondary tumors. Nevertheless, the disease recurrence is probable after RFA application partially due to the inadequate capability of temperature monitoring of the target tissue and visualizing the thermal damage. The goal of this work was t...

The circulatory response to ultrasonic irradiation of the upper limbs was measured under controlled conditions by venous occlusion plethysmography. Volumetric blood flow changes were related to temperature measurements in the treated tissues. Ultrasonic irradiation of the extremities was not found, per se, to be an effective means of promoting a sustained increase in blood flow. The information...

Nano ZnO/ montmorillonite composite were prepared by sol gel method under ultrasonic irradiation from directly mixing montmorillonite nano clay into Zinc gel. The Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O and montmorillonite nano clay was used as precursor. The zinc acetate was dissolved in DI water and, NH3 (aq) solution was dropped into the zinc solution until pH 9 consequently the zinc gel was produced. The montmori...
